Water Service

Cut-Off/Re-Connect Policy

1. If water service has been cut-off because of an unpaid past due balance, all charges including late fees and a $75.00 re-connect fee must be paid before water service can be restored.

2. The Town of Appalachia will record all payments left in the night depository on the morning of cut-off day and prior to dispatching the cut-off crew. Accordingly, payments received and recorded as previously described, if adequate, will prevent water service cut-off.

3. The Town of Appalachia will endeavor to dispatch its cutoff crew by 6:00 A.M on the designated cut-off day, which is the 1st Thursday following the 3rd of each month. Once the crew has been dispatched, cut-off is mandatory with no exceptions, and the past due as well as a $75.00 re-connect fee must be paid in order to restore water service. Town crew members are instructed to cut off water service and have no authority to do otherwise. It is the responsibility of the water customer to have water bills paid prior to the cut-off day.

4. Re-connects will begin at 1:00 P.M and end at 3:00 P.M on the day of cut-offs. Any re-connects after 2:30 P.M will be processed the next day after 9:00 A.M.

The Town of Appalachia respects the rights of every citizen and will endeavor to be fair to all and to provide the best possible service to all residents. The town depends on the revenues generated from water/sewer service, fees and taxes to pay bills that are created by providing services to customers. Cash flow is critical; therefore the town is unable to allow long term payment of bills.
